The Chedi Andermatt ist GaultMillau Hotel des Jahres 2017

05 September 2016

The five-star deluxe hotel is named Hotel of the Year 2017 by GaultMillau Switzerland. “A lifestyle hotel with a fascinating architecture.  Restaurants with a seductive Asian touch. A spa with a 35-meter pool.  An 18-hole golf course just around the corner: The Chedi Andermatt is GaultMillau Hotel of the Year 2017,” says GaultMillau Switzerland of its choice.

The restaurant guide GaultMillau Switzerland names what it sees as the best hotel in the country every year - an award the hotel carries throughout the following year. The award is one of the best and most important in the Swiss hotel business.

“Our success is based on the 'Chedi' spirit, the perfect match of the unique combination of Alpine Chic and Asian expression. The power of silence of the surrounding Alpine mountains. In the care and exclusive hospitality of our employees. And last but not least - or perhaps particularly because of the nearly unlimited culinary enjoyment,” says Jean-Yves Blatt, General Manager of The Chedi Andermatt.

The Chedi Andermatt is representative of the rediscovery of the entire place. The man behind the Andermatt project is Samih Sawiris, who "really does keep his promise. He promised us an exceptional hotel with lots of Alpine lifestyle and good restaurants. He has kept his promise," says GaultMillau chef Urs Heller.

Samih Sawiris has created something unique in Andermatt. Which makes him even more ecstatic about the GaultMillau Hotel of the Year 2017 award: "This award is the highlight and coronation of ten years full of work. We are truly delighted to receive this award!"

The Swiss five-star deluxe hotel is captivating with spacious rooms, natural materials, picture windows and more than 200 fireplaces. The Restaurant features four open studio kitchens which prepare culinary highlights from both western and Asian cuisine. The Japanese Restaurant and the first Japan-certified sake sommelier in Switzerland are unique in the Swiss Alps. The new pop-up restaurant, The Chalet, and The Clubhouse, that belongs to the 18-hole golf course, complete the culinary offer. The Spa covers 2,400 square metres and has a 35-metre indoor pool with a glass roof as well as a heated outdoor pool with a view of the impressive Alpine scenery.

The Chedi Andermatt is celebrating the "GaultMillau Hotel of the Year 2017" award with a special package for its guests.
